About Me

Hi!  I'm Monica Langley.  I am originally from Hacienda Heights, CA, where I thoroughly enjoyed a childhood marked by good old fashioned outdoor fun.  Like many, I began college just out of high school having no idea what I wanted to do with my life.  After earning a BA in Psychology from UC Santa Barbara, I set upon a stunted road toward becoming a Nurse Practitioner.   Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with teaching.

I began my career teaching general science at Pasadena High School, where I met my husband. Marriage and family soon consumed my attention, and I had the luxury of choosing to stay home with my children.  As the wife of a P.E. teacher, our family life morphed into an ideal setup in which I began substitute teaching at my children's school during the school year, and then teaching science in summer school while my husband stayed home with the kids.  For the last 14 summers, I have taught anything from Biology to "Imagine Mars" (a joint venture with JPL), and most recently, Water Conservation.  During the school year, it's anything from K-8, my favorites being 8th grade, any subject.  In the end, my most treasured occupations are "Mother" of two girls and "Wife" of one very special husband.

I am probably somewhere in the middle of the spectrum of technological savviness.   I do struggle at times, but ultimately I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment when I figure out how to do what's necessary.

I am excited to have begun my Masters Degree in Educational Multimedia at Cal Poly Pomona.   Eventually I would like to work behind the scenes to help school districts and teachers utilize technology more efficiently in the classroom in order to catch up to our students.
